The Accra Metropolitan is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region. The Metro shares common boundaries with La-Dade Kotokpon Municipal from the east and Ga West Municipal, Ga Central Municipal and Ga South Municipal Assembly from the west. The Metropolitan Assembly also share common boundary with the Gulf of Guinea.
Did you know Achimota means “speak no name” in the Ga language? Life in Achimota is fun and there’s plenty to do and see. Labadi Beach or pleasure beach is just a stone’s throw away. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial which makes for a great visit is (5.3 mi/8.5 km from the city centre). You can also check out university girls while in Achimota since the University of Ghana is nearby.
Later in the evening, you can go to Achimota Golf Course for a round of golf before dropping by Achimota Mall for some shopping. National Theatre of Ghana and Makola Market is also a walking distance from Achimota.
Kotoka International Airport (IATA: ACC, ICAO: DGAA) is the closest airport (7.1 km) from central Achimota.
Achimota is also served by a station on the Ghana Railways.
